Dodge Avoider

Weave through the falling hazards and stay alive

Dodge Avoider is a survival arcade game. You steer a small orb around the field while hazards rain down from the top, and every hazard you slip past counts as a dodge. You start with three lives, and each collision costs one, followed by roughly 1.2 seconds of invulnerability so one crowded moment cannot end the run. There is no finish line, only how long you last.

The storm escalates on a fixed curve rather than at random. Hazards start falling at 150 pixels per second and gain 9 per second survived, topping out at 560. The gap between spawns shrinks from 0.75 seconds to a floor of 0.20, and each hazard gets its own size between 9 and 18 pixels plus a slight speed variation. Because that curve is deterministic, your best time is a benchmark you can compare across runs.

Steering is deliberately simple. Drag with a finger or move the mouse to place the orb anywhere in the field, or use the arrow keys and WASD on desktop, with diagonal input normalised so you never drift faster sideways than straight. A short invulnerability blink follows every hit, and letting a hazard pass off the bottom is what earns the dodge counter. Your best time is stored locally.

Dodge Avoider is a single self-contained HTML file with every shape drawn on a canvas. There are no external images, no tracking, no cookies and no server requests, and it never asks for an account. It runs on phones in portrait or landscape and on desktop, and plays instantly with nothing to install.

How to play

  1. Steer your orb with the mouse, a finger, or the arrow keys and WASD.
  2. Slip past every falling hazard; letting one leave the bottom counts as a dodge.
  3. A collision costs one of your three lives and grants about 1.2 seconds of invulnerability.
  4. Survive as long as you can, the hazards keep getting faster and denser.

Controls

  • Mouse or finger: drag to steer the orb anywhere in the field
  • Arrow keys or WASD: move the orb, diagonal input is normalised
  • Space or Enter: start or restart the run

Tips

  • Stay in the lower half early on, it gives you more time to read each drop.
  • Do not chase the dodge counter, a safe line through a gap beats a risky squeeze.
  • Use the invulnerability blink after a hit to reposition rather than to push forward.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an end to the game?

No. Dodge Avoider is a survival run, it ends only when you lose all three lives.

Does the difficulty keep rising forever?

It rises on a fixed curve and then plateaus: spawn gaps stop shrinking at 0.2 seconds and fall speed stops increasing at 560 pixels per second.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, drag your finger to steer and the field adapts to both portrait and landscape.
