Brick Breaker
Bounce the ball, clear every brick
Brick Breaker is the classic paddle-and-ball arcade game rebuilt as a single browser page. A ball ricochets around a 480 by 360 playfield while you slide an 84-pixel paddle along the bottom to keep it alive. Each brick it strikes vanishes and adds to your score, and bricks higher up the wall are worth more than those near the bottom. Clear the entire wall and the next level loads. You begin with three balls; every time one slips past the paddle you lose it, and the run ends when the last ball is gone.
The wall is what changes as you go deeper. Level one opens with four rows of nine bricks, and every level adds one more row until the wall reaches eight. The ball also accelerates by 16 pixels per second per level, rising from 210 toward a hard ceiling of 400. Because both the row count and the speed are fixed numbers rather than random rolls, every player meets the same difficulty curve and you can practise one specific level until it clicks.
Control is deliberately forgiving. The paddle tracks your finger or cursor directly with no acceleration to fight, while the keyboard offers arrow keys or A and D at a steady 430 pixels per second. Where the ball lands on the paddle sets the rebound angle, up to 60 degrees off vertical, so you aim by sliding rather than simply reacting. Every new ball and every new level waits for Space or a click before launching, so nothing moves before you are ready.
The whole game is one HTML file: no external libraries, no images or fonts to download, no network requests after load, no cookies and no tracking. Your best score stays in local storage and never leaves the device. It runs in any modern browser, reflows to a portrait phone, and needs no account and no install.
How to play
- Click Start, then press Space or tap the playfield to launch the first ball.
- Slide the paddle with the mouse, your finger, or the arrow keys to intercept the ball.
- Break every brick in the wall to advance to the next level.
- Each new level adds a row of bricks and makes the ball faster, up to eight rows.
- You get three balls; the run ends once the last one drops past the paddle.
Controls
- Mouse: move the cursor across the playfield to slide the paddle
- Touch: drag anywhere on the playfield to move the paddle
- Keyboard: Left and Right arrow keys, or A and D, to move the paddle
- Keyboard or mouse: press Space or click to launch a waiting ball
Tips
- Strike the ball with the outer edges of the paddle to throw it out at a wider angle and reach the far columns.
- Target the top rows early; they carry the highest point values and take the wall down fastest.
- Once the wall is tall, let the ball come to you instead of chasing it, since a late paddle move usually overshoots.

Is Brick Breaker free to play?
Yes. It runs entirely in your browser with no cost, no account and nothing to download.
How many levels are there?
There is no fixed end. Each level adds one row of bricks until the wall reaches eight rows, and the ball keeps accelerating until it hits its speed ceiling.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Drag anywhere on the playfield to move the paddle and tap to launch; the board reflows to a portrait screen.
Are my scores saved?
Your best score is stored in your browser local storage only and is never sent over the network.
